Flex Sensor / Bend Sensor
A Flex Sensor is a resistive bend sensor designed to detect changes in flexion. As the sensor is bent, its electrical resistance changes, allowing the amount of bending to be monitored using a simple voltage-divider circuit and an analog input.
The sensor does not require a dedicated digital communication interface. Instead, the changing resistance is converted into an analog voltage that can be read by microcontrollers such as Arduino and ESP32. This makes it simple to incorporate into custom sensing and control systems.
Flex sensors are commonly used in robotic joints, wearable interfaces, gesture recognition, electronic gloves, motion-controlled devices, prosthetics prototypes and educational electronics projects where relative bending or position needs to be detected.
